March 13, 2011 The Cowtown/Work to Ride polo team out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania became the first all-black team to win the National Interscholastic Championship with a 24 – 17 victory over the Baltimore Polo Club. Work to Ride was founded in 1994 to provide disadvantaged urban youth in Philadelphia with constructive activities centered on horsemanship, equine sports, and education. In 1999, the Work to Ride polo team became the first African American polo team in the country.
